OCEAN EXPLORATION

I am truly in love with the ocean and all it's wonderful secrets. This passion is what drove me to become a marine biologist. When I am not studying the ocean, I love to be in, on, or around it!! Whether it is hiking the East Coast trail with its glorious views of the Atlantic ocean, playing with the MUN seals, or SCUBA diving in the frigid waters, I am at my best and most zen when the ocean is near.

Oceanbites is one part of ScienceBites, an organization that takes research papers and summarizes them in language that is accessible to non-researchers. I have been volunteering for Oceanbites for two years and love it! Check out my articles at the link below.

SCUBA

I am a PADI-trained Rescue diver, working on my Dive Master certification. I am a very active member of the local dive clubs, getting in the water nearly all year-round (even when its below 0ºC). I am also training to be a RLS diver. Reef life survey (RLS) is a global organization that trains divers to conduct SCUBA surveys of invertebrates and fishes. The data is all freely available online!
